How Does Radiesse® Work?

Radiesse® is composed of small particles of calcium hydroxylapetite that are suspended in a natural, water-based gel. Radiesse® works by providing structure and volume to the skin and stimulating the growth of new collagen. This has a plumping effect to the skin. As new skin tissue develops, the signs of aging decrease.

Radiesse® Treatment Process

Prior to receiving the injections, a local anesthetic will be applied to minimize discomfort. Dr. Allenby then uses a blunt tip cannula injection technique to inject Radiesse® directly into the skin, under the subcutis and dermis layer. This specialized injection technique, which is a variation of the traditional injection technique, utilizes fewer entry points to pass underneath the skin without cutting the skin or blood vessels. This greatly reduces any risk of bruising, and results in a total treatment time that is often 15-30 minutes.

Expected Results

Volume is instantly restored to the skin as lines are diminished and skin appears smoother and rejuvenated. Although patients can expect immediate results following Radiesse® injections, results may continue to improve for up to one week. The ingredients of Radiesse® are absorbed into the skin, leaving behind collagen. Results can last up to two years.
