Radiesse®
If you’re worried about having facial lines that are too deep for treatment, worry no more. Radiesse® is an FDA-approved injectable dermal filler used to minimize the signs of aging and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth.
How Does Radiesse® Work?
Radiesse® is composed of calcium hydroxylapetite (CaHa) microspheres that are suspended in a natural, water-based gel. Radiesse® works by providing structure and volume to the skin and stimulating the growth of new collagen. This has a plumping effect on the skin. As new skin tissue develops, the signs of aging decrease.
Where Radiesse Can Be Injected
Radiesse provides natural, long-lasting results, enhancing multiple areas for a refreshed, youthful appearance. It is perfect for restoring volume loss and smoothing wrinkles in several key areas, including:
- Cheeks: Adds volume to enhance contours and lift sunken areas.
- Nasolabial Folds: Softens deep lines from the nose to the mouth.
- Marionette Lines: Fills lines below the mouth for a balanced look.
- Chin and Jawline: Defines and sculpts for a more structured profile.
- Hands: Rejuvenates by restoring volume and reducing visible veins.
Radiesse® Treatment Process
Prior to receiving the injections, a local anesthetic will be applied to minimize discomfort. Dr. Allenby then uses a blunt tip cannula injection technique to inject Radiesse® directly into the skin, under the subcutis and dermis layer. This specialized injection technique, which is a variation of the traditional injection technique, utilizes fewer entry points to pass underneath the skin without cutting the skin or blood vessels, greatly reducing the risk of bruising. This specialized process results in a total treatment time that is is usually only between 15 and 30 minutes.
When to Expect Results
Volume is instantly restored to the skin as lines are diminished and skin appears smoother and rejuvenated. Patients can expect natural-looking, immediate results following Radiesse® injections, with results continuing to improve for up to one week. The ingredients of Radiesse® are absorbed into the skin, leaving behind collagen. Results can last up to two years.
Advantages of Radiesse®
In comparison to other dermal fillers, like Juvederm and Restylane, Radiesse® immediately restores lost volume, plumps up the skin, and fills in deep lines and wrinkles. This cosmetic procedure produces long-lasting and natural-looking results that are long-lasting.*
*Individual results may vary.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some of the most commonly asked questions we have received from clients about Radiesse. Radiesse is a versatile, long-lasting filler option that can enhance volume and restore a youthful appearance to the face and back of the hands. If you have any additional questions or want to know more about what to expect, our team is here to help you feel confident and excited about your Radiesse journey!
What is Radiesse, and how does it work?
Radiesse is a specialized injectable filler made from calcium-based microspheres that add volume and stimulate collagen production in the skin. When injected, it provides immediate lift and volume, helping to smooth out wrinkles and restore a youthful fullness to the skin. Over time, Radiesse encourages your body to produce new collagen, which maintains the structure and elasticity of your skin even as the filler itself gradually absorbs. This dual-action approach makes Radiesse a unique choice for long-lasting results.
How long do Radiesse results last?
Radiesse is known for its impressive longevity, with results that often last 12 to 18 months, depending on the treatment area and your body’s natural collagen response. The filler provides an immediate boost in volume, but as your body gradually absorbs it, the collagen boost from Radiesse continues to support your skin’s structure. Many clients enjoy long-term results with Radiesse and find that maintenance treatments help sustain a refreshed, youthful look.
Is there downtime after Radiesse treatment?
There is minimal downtime after Radiesse treatments, making it a convenient option for those with busy schedules. Many clients return to their daily activities right away. By following our post-treatment care instructions, you can be sure to have a comfortable recovery.
Who is a good candidate for Radiesse?
Radiesse is a fantastic option for adults who want to restore lost volume, smooth out deep wrinkles, or rejuvenate their hands. During your consultation, we’ll carefully assess your skin and medical history and review treatment options to determine if Radiesse is the best fit for your needs.
Who should not get Radiesse treatments?
While Radiesse is a safe and effective option for many, certain individuals may need to consider alternative treatments. Radiesse may not be suitable for those with allergies to any ingredients in the filler, particularly if you have a known allergy to calcium hydroxylapatite or lidocaine.
Additionally, individuals with bleeding disorders, autoimmune conditions, or active skin infections near the treatment area should avoid Radiesse, as it may increase the risk of complications. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals are also advised to wait until a later time to receive Radiesse.
Are there any side effects of Radiesse?
Radiesse is generally well-tolerated, with most side effects being mild and temporary. Common side effects include slight swelling, bruising, or redness at the injection site, which usually resolves within a few days. In rare cases, some clients may experience small lumps or nodules in the treated area; however, these can typically be managed with follow-up care. Your healthcare provider will provide detailed aftercare instructions and support you throughout the recovery process to ensure the best possible experience.
