Botox®
BOTOX® Cosmetic is one of the safest and most widely used cosmetic procedures performed today. If you’re tired of the appearance of facial wrinkles and frown lines, BOTOX® is the perfect way to achieve a younger, “less tired” look. Best of all, BOTOX® is a non-surgical procedure, so there’s no downtime. At Allenby Cosmetic Dermatology, Dr. Janet Alleby’s expertise is what makes her among the best to perform Botox injections Boca Raton residents can depend on.
What Causes Wrinkles?
When facial muscles contract they can cause the overlying skin to wrinkle and fold. You can see these lines form when you smile, frown, squint, or make other facial expressions. Over time due to repeated muscle use over the years, these wrinkles and lines can become more pronounced.
What Is BOTOX?
BOTOX® is a neuromodulator that contains botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin. Botulinum toxin can prevent the nerves from sending signals to the muscles, temporarily paralyzing them so they can’t contract.
Injecting BOTOX® into the facial muscles is an FDA-approved process that prevents muscles from contracting and forming wrinkles and lines, helping to give the face a smooth, more youthful appearance.
Is Botox Right for Me?
Botox injections are an excellent option for both men and women who are looking for a non-surgical option for facial rejuvenation. If you have mild to moderate fine lines and wrinkles, you may be a good candidate for Botox injections. Botox can be used on older patients who want to rejuvenate their natural youthful beauty. It is also an excellent option for combating premature aging in younger patients.

Aesthetic Issues BOTOX® Can Treat
The most common areas of the face that can be treated with the use of Botox injections are the forehead, brow, mouth, lips, the corners of the eyes, chin, jawline, and neck. Botox injections can help to reduce the appearance of:
- Forehead creases
- Brow Furrows
- Smile lines
- Frown Lines
- Crow’s feet
- Bunny lines (nose)
- Chin wrinkles
- Neck bands
The Food and Drug Administration has also approved Botox to treat issues such as chronic migraines, urinary incontinence due to overactive bladder issues, excessive sweating of the underarms (hyperhidrosis), eye muscle issues (Strabismus), and many more.
Recovering From
BOTOX® Injections
A Botox treatment typically takes about 10 to 30 minutes and does not require any recovery time. Most patients are able to return to their normal activities immediately following their Botox treatment. There may be some slight redness and swelling around the injection sites, but these issues should dissipate quickly.
What Results Can I Expect from BOTOX® Cosmetics?
An injection of Botox will minimize forehead movement while lifting the brows. This creates a more “awake” appearance, which ultimately makes you appear younger. Our expressions can cause deep lines to form along the forehead; Botox will help prevent and minimize these lines.
Say goodbye to those sad frown lines, forehead creases, and crow’s feet, and hello to a restored, relaxed facial appearance just three to seven days following treatment! Results last approximately three to four months.*
*Individual results may vary.

SAFETY CONCERNS
Serious side effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic are very rare, and complications are primarily seen when injections are performed by unqualified practitioners. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience temporary bruising, headaches, trouble swallowing (Dysphagia), watery or dry eye problems, neck pain, or muscle weakness. Some patients may develop temporary drooping eyelids or eyebrows (Ptosis), which usually resolves within a few weeks. For best results, avoid rubbing the treated area for about 4-6 hours after treatment. To avoid an allergic reaction to Botox, check the official Medication Guide for a list of ingredients.
NOTE: Those who are breastfeeding, pregnant, or have a neurological disease should not get Botox injections.
FAQ
How much does Botox cost?
The price of Botox can range from three hundred to seven hundred depending on the amount of product you need. We categorize treatments by levels. Level 1 offers the lowest price and the least amount of product. While level 3 is the highest price with the most amount of product. Dr. Allenby will distribute the amount evenly across the forehead, crow’s feet, and glabella to provide a symmetrical lift. This means that if you need a level three and you decide to get a level two, the product will still be placed across all three areas, but less will go into each section. So you may still have some movement, and the results may not last as long. This is why it is important to purchase the correct amount based on your needs.
What is the difference between Botox and Dysport?
Botox and Dysport work very similarly, but the molecule development is slightly different. This allows Botox to remove more movement, while Dysport kicks in a bit quicker.
What is the difference between Botox and Fillers?
Botox is designed to temporarily paralyze facial muscles to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. Dermal fillers are designed to fill in facial folds and creases and enhance or restore facial contours by adding volume to specific areas of the face. Dermal fillers are usually thick gels and also help the skin retain moisture or boost the production of collagen in the skin. Dermal filler injections and Botox injections can be performed during the same treatment for a more comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
How often do I need to get Botox?
Botox generally lasts three to four months. Therefore, we advise patients to treat between twelve and sixteen weeks to avoid losing all the effects of the previous treatment.
